Product Features & Compliance

What’s the difference between Hycon O and Hycon S?

Hycon O is a fully sealed, IP66-rated system ideal for environments requiring maximum contamination control. It’s typically used in strict cleanroom environments, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and areas with rigorous hygiene requirements. Hycon S is a semi-sealed system with flared connections allowing easier cable access and maintenance. It’s ideal for environments where hygiene is essential but occasional cable access, such as research labs and certain manufacturing areas, is needed.

What accreditations and classifications does Hycon have?

Hycon has a UL Classification Code 4444116644147 in accordance with EN – IEC 61386-1 AND IEC 61386-21, IEC 61386-22, IEC 61386-23, IEC 61386-24 and/or IEC 61386-257. The management systems are certified with a quality management system that complies with the requirements of ISO 9001:20157.

How does Hycon help with cleanroom compliance?

Hycon’s seamless stainless steel design minimises contamination risks, ensuring compliance with GMP regulations, and industry hygienic requirements. The system’s smooth surfaces prevent particle buildup and bacterial harbourage, supporting validation and ongoing cleanroom certification.

What are the key features of Hycon products?

Hycon systems offer a fully contained and hygienically sealed design, with the Hycon O model rated to IP66 standards. Constructed from premium grade 316 stainless steel, they provide high resistance to pitting corrosion. Their sleek and aesthetically pleasing design enhances the overall appearance of the facility. The modular, clickable system allows for fast installation and seamless integration. Designed for critical environments, Hycon systems deliver dust-tight, airtight, and waterproof performance. Additionally, their smooth, crevice-free surfaces minimise the risk of contamination. Hycon S can also be upgraded to IP66 with Hycon 5366 sealant.

What kind of cables and tubing can be installed using Hycon?

Hycon can be used to install open-rated cords or cables such as SWA (Steel Wire Armour), Olflex, Cy, LiyCy, Belden, and pneumatic tubing and signal and data cabling.

What services can Hycon support?

Hycon can support a wide range of systems, including power wiring and distribution, signal and control wiring, and instrumentation wiring. It is also suitable for IT and data infrastructure, pneumatic systems, and automation and data systems, offering a versatile solution for modern industrial and commercial environments.

What configurations are available in the Hycon product range?

Hycon offers a versatile selection of cable containment systems designed to meet the highest standards of safety, hygiene, and convenience. The Hycon O is a fully sealed, stainless steel solution engineered for environments where maximum contamination control is critical. For applications that require both security and easy maintenance access, the Hycon S provides a semi-sealed system that strikes the perfect balance. To support fully tailored installations, Hycon Accessories include a comprehensive range of fittings, brackets, and specialised components, all designed to integrate seamlessly with both the Hycon O and S systems.

Installation & Customisation

How easy is installing a Hycon?

Hycon’s innovative modular and clickable system is engineered for fast and straightforward installation. By streamlining the setup process, Hycon can reduce installation time by up to 50% compared to traditional systems. This not only cuts down on labour costs but also minimises facility downtime, making it an ideal solution for contractors and cleanroom specialists seeking efficiency without compromising quality.

What tools are needed for Hycon installation?

Hycon installation is designed to be simple and efficient, requiring minimal specialised tools. The essential toolkit includes a half round file for removing rough burrs, a nylon mallet to aid assembly without damaging the stainless steel, and socket and bush spanners to ensure proper tightening. A deburring tool and rotary saw are also used to prepare components, along with a facing off tool for clean, precise finishes. For larger projects, a sizing machine may be required—this specialised equipment can be hired exclusively from Dunreidy Engineering.

Can Hycon be customised to fit my facility’s layout?

Yes, with modular configurations and a comprehensive range of accessories including bends, couplers, brackets, and fixings, Hycon can be tailored to meet complex cleanroom layouts and specific project requirements. Our engineering team can also create custom components for unique installations.

How does Hycon contribute to sustainability in cleanroom environments?

Hycon supports sustainability through its durable construction, which reduces the need for frequent replacements and extends product life. Its hygienic design minimises the use of harsh cleaning chemicals, contributing to a safer and more environmentally friendly maintenance routine. With lower maintenance requirements, Hycon systems help conserve resources over time. Additionally, the use of premium materials ensures long-term reliability, significantly reducing waste and supporting sustainable facility operations.

Cost Considerations & ROI

How does Hycon provide long-term cost savings?

While Hycon represents an investment in quality, clients benefit from significant long-term savings. Its durable stainless steel construction reduces ongoing maintenance costs, while the contamination-resistant design lowers cleaning expenses. The system’s modular, easy-to-install nature minimises downtime during initial setup—up to 50% faster than traditional alternatives—and decreases labour costs during both installation and maintenance. With an extended service life, Hycon also delays the need for costly replacements, offering lasting value over time.

Is Hycon cost-effective compared to conventional systems?

When considering total lifecycle costs, Hycon delivers exceptional value. Though initial investment may be higher than some conventional systems, the reduced installation time, lower maintenance requirements, and extended service life typically result in significant cost savings over the system’s lifetime.
